How the Honor Bar TAB Works

Learn how to use the Honor Bar, set up a card on file, and manage your TAB.

  • How does the TAB work?

    You track your own purchases


    • Guests are responsible for keeping track of everything they take from the Honor Bar.

    Update your Tab every day


    • Please submit an order form daily for any item you have taken so that we can keep track of our inventory and keep your Tab updated.Make sure to hit the SUBMIT TAB ORDER button at the bottom of the form.
    • You will receive an emailed receipt with your purchases and amount to be charged.

    Primary Guest is responsible


    • The Primary Guest (the person who made the booking) is responsible for any unpaid Tab balances for guests in their reservation, even if other registered guests used the Honor Bar or leave early and we cannot collect payment from them.

    Primary Guest controls guest Tabs


    • The Primary Guest may request that hosts do not allow Tabs for other guests registered on their booking.

    Visitors cannot open a Tab


    • Only registered guests on the reservation may use a Tab if they are staying at least 3 nights. Visitors are not allowed to open a Tab.

    When your Tab is settled


    • Tabs are settled no later than 11:00 AM on checkout day.

    • If you plan to leave before 10:00 AM, please tell the hosts so we can settle your Tab beforehand.

    Right to refuse or close a Tab


    • Hosts reserve the right to refuse a new Tab, close a Tab early, or refuse Honor Bar use at their discretion.


    Full Honor Bar rules are detailed in the Guest Stay Agreement accepted by the Primary Guest (at booking or during check-in in the Guest App). For Airbnb bookings, Honor Bar rules are also included in our House Rules.

  • How can I pay for the Honor Bar?

    We offer three ways to pay for your Honor Bar purchases:


    Cash (pesos only)

    • Complete an order form online. Then use the total due on the emailed receipt to settle the payment. The cash discount is already included in the total.
    • Use the Honor Bar envelopes provided.
    • Write your full name and the total amount paid.
    • Please pay daily so we can keep our accounting and inventory accurate.
    • Seal the envelope and place it in the safe box at the Honor Bar.

    Debit / Credit Card (per purchase)

    • Select your items and quantities in the Order Form and Submit.
    • You will receive an emailed receipt with amount due.
    • Use the PAY NOW button on your emailed receipt or Scan the QR code at the Honor Bar to pay the amount due.
    • Payment is due on the same day as purchase.

    Tab

    • If you’re staying 3 nights or more, you may open a Tab.
    • A card on file is required (see the “Tab Setup” sections).
    • You can enjoy the Honor Bar during your stay and we’ll settle your Tab by checkout at the regular menu prices for card purchases.
    • Guests staying 1–2 nights should pay by cash or card daily instead of using a Tab.

  • TAB Setup: I’m the person who made the booking on Airbnb or Misterb&b

    We don’t receive your full card details from Airbnb or Misterb&b, so we ask you to add a card on file in our Guest App.


    How to add your card:


    1. Open the Villa Amistad Guest App from your booking email or text.
    2. Go to the Payments / Card on File section.
    3. Enter your credit or debit card details and save.

    We’ll use this card to settle your Honor Bar tab. All other approved Smart Luxury Extras owed to us will be settled through either Airbnb's Resolution Center or through Misterb&b before the end of your stay.

  • TAB Setup: I’m the person who made the booking on the website, by direct quote, VRBO, or Booking.com

    Good news — for these bookings, we already have a card on file from your reservation.


    You do not need to add another card for the Honor Bar. We’ll simply:


    Review your Honor Bar selections at the end of your stay.


    Charge the total to the same card used for your reservation (after we confirm the amount with you if needed).


    If you’d like to update your card, you can still do this in the Guest App under the Payments / Card on File section.

  • TAB Setup: I’m a guest on the reservation, but I didn’t make the booking

    If you’re not the person who made the reservation, but you are a registered guest staying 3 or more nights, you can still enjoy the Honor Bar by creating a tab with your own card on file.


    How to add your card:


    1. Click the “Add My Card” button/link below.
    2. You’ll be taken to a secure payment page connected to our Stripe account.
    3. Enter your card details and submit.

    About the verification hold


    To safely add and verify your card:


    • A temporary hold of $10 MXN (about $0.50 USD) will be placed on your card.
    • This is not a charge or transaction – no money is taken and no interest is charged.
    • The hold is automatically released shortly after verification.

    We’ll then keep your card securely on file and, at the end of your stay, we’ll manually charge only the total for your Honor Bar items.
