A wonderful stay

We just returned from a 4 night stay at Villa Amistad and truly enjoyed our time there. We stayed in the Miguel suite and found it to be very comfortable and clean, it had all the amenities we needed and we can't say enough about the beautiful view. Our hosts were great, everyone was very friendly and helpful. The location is good, it is close to many wonderful restaurants and just blocks from the water, just be prepared for lots of uneven stairs getting up to the Villa and then the stairs inside, but we wouldn't have the view we did if not for those climbs. We would recommend staying at Villa Amistad and hope to return soon.

We had a wonderful stay in Miguel’s mirador for a couple of nights. The view was amazing and the accommodation was top notch. We loved the location-close enough to a plethora of restaurants and el centro but far enough away from the hustle and bustle. We highly recommend this jewel of a place to stay!!

INCREDIBLE Villa

We stayed here not once but twice during our trip to Puerto Vallarta! Mark and his team are absolutely incredible. The love and effort put into the villa permeates throughout the whole place. Mark has the best recommendations and made our stay so memorable. Not to mention, when our trip had to be extended due to a hurricane back home, he was quick to respond to us and make sure we had a place to stay for our trip extenstion. We cannot wait to come back next year!

Thank you for your kind review. We are so happy to hear you had an excellent experience staying in Jonathan's Lugar and we were so happy to help you out in your time of need. We hope all is well at home!

Fabulous!

What a wonderful 2 weeks we had. We stayed in Ivan's Bella Vista and everything was perfect. The apartment is well equipped with all we could possibly need and more! The beds are so comfy with amazing pillows! The whole villa is tastefully decorated and has a safe & extremely friendly atmosphere. The pool was a most welcome sight after a long hot day, great for a quick dip either then or first thing. We thoroughly recommend choosing to stay here. Thank you Mark and team Villa Amistad for helping to make our trip to Mexico the Holiday of a lifetime! We certainly hope to return one day.

Another great stay at Villa Amistad in Vallarta

Hi, we are Léticia & Claude, a dynamic Belgian couple. Just back from another great stay at Villa Amistad in Valllarta. We definitely recommand this place as housing to enjoy Vallarta or even to stroll around in Marina Vallarta or to spend a full day in Bucerias. Easy walking access to downtown Vallarta. We enjoyed early morning walks in the streets around, so quiet and typical! A drink to enjoy the sunset at the Capella Bar & Restaurant is a must. As for Villa Amistad, Mark and his team are a great and helpful team. The room has all you need to enjoy your stay.

It was wonderful hosting you again at the Villa and we are so happy to read you had a wonderful experience!

Outstanding place to stay!

What a spectacular place! We stayed 7 nights in Miguel's Mirador on the top floor with it's fabulous view and private terrace and completed our stay with 2 nights in Jonathan's Lugar. Both were exceptional. They have created a true home away from home. We would definitely stay there again.

Beautiful Villarta

We stayed in the Penthouse/Macbeth. This was our 2nd visit to Villa Amistad and it won't be our last. There were 6 people in our group. We absolutely love it. It is relaxing, well appointed and an overall amazing experience. It is in the hills of Vallarta and we love the hiking to and from, being in the neighborhood, and the accessibility to restaurants and shops. If you can't handle big walks, stairs, and hills it may not be for you - great for active people. Can't wait to return!!!!

Home from Home

We travel a lot but it's always a concern when booking a place to stay thousands of miles away from home. Fear not as Villa Amistad makes the process of booking a breeze and Mark/John are always on hand to respond to pre and post booking questions. Then there is an excellent app that arrives before you leave that covers everything you need to know and sits neatly on your mobile phone. We used the Concierge Service to get from the airport to Villa Amistad and it was plain sailing from there on in. We stayed in Ivan’s Bella Vista an extremely comfortable top floor apartment with 2 bedrooms, 2 shower rooms, lounge, kitchenette, and diner. The sliding doors onto the balcony with its stunning sea view gives the apartment a sense of open space with a pleasant breeze. We will return.’

What a wonderful hidden gem! We stayed a couple of days for some relaxation as our apartment is renovating , very noisy. This was such a serene and peaceful environment. So close to good food and the Malecon, less than 5 minutes walk downhill. I might add we walked back which was just a gradual uphill, We are 64 and 74 and managed well. The room, Macbeths mirador had the most stellar view! Sunsets, lightning, and fireworks all included! John is a wonderful host, We even had a bottle of wine waiting. The room wonderful, well equiipped , with every need thought of. Will definitley come again

You will not regret renting this beautiful villa! Mark, John, & Miguel are responsive, helpful & attentive to detail. The view is amazing! The Villa is nicely furnished with utensils for cooking and even a propane grill for your outdoor cooking needs! The Malecon is 4 blocks down from the villa. It’s nice to take a walk down to catch the vibes that PV has to offer, then walk up to the Callejon for a nice quiet sleep. This place is so great, my family has already asked when will we be back? Book your trip! You will not be disappointed.

Wait, do we qualify as young couple or mature couple? Mid-late thirties, haha- I said young! Regardless, as someone who has traveled to PV multiple times over the past couple decades this is now my new favorite place. We can't wait to come back! The villa is fantastic and very walkable, even over to our favorite places in the Romantic zone. Hosts are gracious and incredibly responsive. While being walkable and centrally located the neighborhood still offers quiet evenings. I would stay here solo and even bring our (well-behaved/quiet, no one wants a loud/rambunctious kid wrecking their kid-free holiday) kid. Would love to rent the entire space out someday for a trip with parents/siblings. Can't overstate how much we enjoyed Villa Amistad!

We are so happy to be your favorite place to stay in PV! Thank you for your wonderful review and feel free to bring your kid. ;-) We look forward to see you again!

We will be back!

My husband and I spent a glorious week in MacBeth’s Mirador. The room is gorgeous and the view is unbelievable. We loved opening up the glass wall and enjoying snacks and drinks on the balcony watching the sunset or nightly fireworks. The entire complex is beautiful and the hosts, Mark and John, were welcoming and knowledgeable. We will definitely be back!

Beautiful Boutique Hotel

The Hosts Mark and John are tremendous and meticulous in their attention to their guests. Currently enjoying my fifth week here with 2 weeks remaining. The rooms are wonderfully appointed, including furnishings, microwave, convection oven, refrigerator, coffee maker, silverware, plates, glasses and more. On-site washer and dryer. At my request, as views of Banderas Bay are from a different perspective in each room - all beautiful - I had the unique opportunity to see their cleaning process, as I enjoyed a lounge chair, at the beautiful pool. The cleaning process was extensive and detailed. I highly recommend Villa Amista PV.

Bienvenidos! Welcome! We are Mark and John, two best friends that moved to Puerto Vallarta together in 2018 from the San Francisco Bay Area. We were both looking for a warmer place to live with great restaurants, a fun atmosphere and lots of culture. We decided to give Puerto Vallarta a try and both fell in love with it. The Villa was found by accident and the seed of a dream began. We decided that we both wanted to live and work full-time in Mexico and running our own business would be the best way to make our Mexico dream a reality. On our free time we love to explore the area taking in both Urban and nature hikes. Our favorite place in Puerto Vallarta is the Botanical Gardens with its incredible plants, hiking trails and restaurant.  We will never turn down a nice bottle of wine and love to try new foods and restaurants. We love living at the Villa. The sunsets can be jaw dropping and the nightly fireworks that usually happen right in front of us never get old. We look forward to hosting you at our beautiful home in Paradise!

WHY THE NAMES?

We wanted to give our new Villa a name that embodied our vision. A place where friends come together and new friendships are made. Something positive. Villa Amistad means Villa of Friendship. Each of the four main apartments were named after a special friend that offered us guidance, motivation and help during our renovation of the Villa and start of our new business. We honored them by naming each apartment after one of them.

Miguel's Mirador: is named after Miguel who works at the Villa. He used to help us out here and there when we needed him but, after graduating university, he began to work as a full-time employee and a jack of all trades. He keeps very busy translating all our integrations, the website, and guidebook into Spanish. Plus all of his help in the office from reservation assistance, accounting, and guest services. During busy turnovers, Miguel steps in to help the team prepare the property for new guests. He has been extremely helpful over the years and we are excited to have him with us. On his free time he loves to explore the Botanical Garden, take walks along the Malecon in the evenings, or play his Nintendo. He is looking forward to traveling and exploring the world now that he is working.

Ivan's Bella Vista is named for our friend Ivan. He has been one of our closest friends since we moved to Puerto Vallarta, always offering help and moral support. Sometimes after a late night out on the town, Ivan would come over the next morning to help with cleaning or some task. He is a true confidant and friend. You can meet him personally at Reina's Bar in the Romantic Zone where he is a popular and friendly bartender.

Curiel's Retreat is named for one of our closest friends in Puerto Vallarta. Curiel, one of the most popular bartenders in town was born and raised in the area. A fantastic person with a caring heart, Curiel has made a name for himself in Puerto Vallarta for his welcoming attitude. You can also find Curiel as head bartender at Reina's Bar.  Curiel has always offered his help and connections and been a true friend. Curiel is also a fantastic hiker and has started his own hiking tour business. He knows all the great hikes to waterfalls and swimming spots.  We are honored to name Curiel's Retreat after him.

Jonathan's Lugar: is named after Jonathan, who also works at the Villa. He started off as John's best friend here in PV and we asked if he would prefer to work with us. He jumped at the chance. Jonathan is probably one of the nicest guys I've ever met and he is always there to offer help when we need it. Jonathan has a passion for travel and has been exploring Europe and South America the past several years on his free time. He loves trying out restaurants, camping, hiking, and just having a good time with his friends in Vallarta.

Just like our friends are each different and unique in their own special way, each apartment is also unique with its own personality and interesting architectural traits.

THE CREATION OF VILLA AMISTAD:

Mark purchased the Villa in the Spring of 2019. The original Villa (Villa Pedregoso) was one of the original large homes in the area. It was beautiful in its open air hacienda style and multitude of brick arches. But, the Villa was never completely finished. The design also wouldn't be attractive to the expectations of 21st century travelers. Most people expect a clean living space with modern amenities and air conditioning. The original Villa while unique and beautiful needed some tender loving care and some greatly needed maintenance and upgrades. It took months to completely gut the building. Structural engineers were brought in to create a lighter and stronger structure. Steel reinforced posts and beams were installed throughout the building and new walls along with sound proofing materials. All new plumbing and electrical was greatly needed along with a water pressurization and filtration system for clean pure drinking water.

The original Villa had 4 floors but, the top floor was removed in the phase 1 of construction. A salt water pool was installed and the home expanded on the third floor with 2 large balconies providing wonderful ocean views. The 2nd floor apartments were also slightly expanded and provided with their own private balconies and terraces. Each bedroom now had its own private bathroom and the apartments were now able to be closed up to allow the use of air conditioning. The Covid Pandemic of 2020 threw a big wrench into everything. We both lost our jobs and had to use our savings to complete the Villa. During the pandemic, construction projects were one of the few business activities that were not halted. Mexico does not have unemployment benefits or many social services so, we were happy to be able to offer a source of income for about 50 families who had workers at the construction of the Villa.

Villa Amistad is the result of countless hours of labor and planning. We are also thankful for the outpouring of support of many of our friends and family. If not for their support, guidance and mentoring, Villa Amistad probably would not have been completed. At Villa Amistad we carry our concept of friendship and gratitude to our guests with friendly service and a never ending drive to make their stay with us a joyous and memorable experience.
